Sand cat facts sheet. It has a stocky build with short legs. Sand Cats weigh in at 4-8 pounds and reach lengths of 29-36 inches and heights of 10-12 inches. Sand cats are not good jumpers or climbers but are excellent diggers and dig shallow burrows in which to avoid desert temperatures during the day.
The Sand Cat Felis margarita is one of the few wild cat species occurring in very dry desert habitat. When it comes to length sand cats are nearly identical to house cats. Instead they live in dry sandy plains and rocky valleys.

It actually looks like a pretty domestic cat but definitely is not. Sand Cats usually live in the sandy and rocky deserts. This cat is the only kind that lives mainly in desert environments as its native to the unforgiving deserts of Southwest Asia and Africa.

Tail is usually 9 to 12 inches long. Legs are covered with black stripes. Female sand cats typically weigh anywhere from 3 to 7 pounds whereas males can be anywhere from 45 to 75 pounds.
