The story centers on two young women 19-year old Irene Rally Vincent and her partner 17-year old Minnie May Hopkins.

Rally and May operate the titular Gunsmith Cats gunshop in Chicago Illinois. To cut a long story short after many violent and admittedly well-stylized shootout scenes in which Rally and May display an impressive capacity for violence and indiscriminate destruction it turns out that MAJOR SPOILER INCOMING the mole and indeed the mastermind behind the gun-running gang was the senator the whole time. The anime adaption amounts to a three-part OVA that was produced by OLM Inc of Pokémon and Berserk fame.

There is also a five-volume sequel series Gunsmith Cats Burst. Bean does have his own animated one-shot though--Riding Bean which is much older and one of AnimEigos first releases.
